New details are emerging every day in the probe into the suspicious death of Lucknow restaurateur Shiva Sharma. Police investigation has revealed some startling facts about model Shraddha Dubey, the main absconding accused in the case. When Hazratganj police searched her flat, they found a stock of performance-enhancing medicines there.
According to police sources, the investigation has established that Shraddha and her sister Rashmi were both in the flat on the day of the incident.
The background to the case is as follows. On the night of October 9, Shiva Sharma, a 27-year-old restaurateur, died after falling from the fourth floor of a building in Lucknow's Hazratganj area. His mother, Ranjana Sharma, has filed a complaint with the police. According to the complaint, Shiva had been in a live-in relationship for the past few months with social media influencer Shraddha Dubey.
The family alleges that Shraddha was blackmailing Shiva, threatening to implicate him in a false case and pressuring him to stay with her. The family has also alleged that Shiva was first confined and brutally beaten, and then thrown from the fourth floor. The complaint also states that Shiva's body bore serious injuries, signs of a broken jaw and cigarette burns. Shraddha Dubey has been absconding since the incident, and police are searching for her.
According to police sources, it is suspected that after Shiva Sharma's suspicious death, Shraddha left Lucknow in the direction of Ayodhya. Hazratganj police are therefore examining CCTV footage from toll plazas. Special teams have been deployed from Delhi to Nepal to trace Shraddha. Five suspects are currently being questioned.
The investigation has also found that Shraddha had been married earlier. She is said to have lived in Raebareli with her husband, Prince Dubey, and to have left him and come to Lucknow about ten years ago. She is then said to have entered the modelling field out of an ambition to earn a lot of money and to have widened her contacts among people in elite circles.
When police examined the call detail record (CDR) of Shraddha's mobile phone, the numbers of some big builders, political leaders and influential people were reportedly found. Police are verifying whether Shraddha was getting close to some people and extorting money from them, and whether she was blackmailing them through private videos. However, all these allegations are still at the investigation stage and await official confirmation.
