The news of actor Nana Patekar's death has come as a big shock to the film industry and his admirers. Patekar breathed his last this morning, 8 October. He had suffered a heart attack at his home in Goa. He was rushed to hospital, but doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Members of the film industry, people from politics and fans are expressing grief. Many artistes are paying tribute on social media, recalling memories of Patekar. Actor Tanushree Dutta's name has also come up in the discussion. After Patekar's death, Dutta shared a video on social media, and what she says in it is now being debated.
In the video, Dutta said she had received the news of Patekar's death. But today was an important day for her work, and she was travelling to Lucknow for an event, she said. She said she wanted to concentrate on that event.
"I heard the news. Today is a workday for me. I am going to Lucknow for an event and I have to focus on that. What a strange day for all this to happen," Dutta said.
She added that the Lucknow event is important to her. She had planned to go live and post content through the day. She is now worried that by evening the media will be interested only in "Evil Dead". So she will give her reaction once she understands how to react, she said.
Dutta also said she would speak only after working out exactly how to respond to the situation. She also offered condolences to Patekar's family.
Her video has set off a range of reactions on social media. Notably, the dispute between Dutta and Patekar has been widely discussed in the past as well.
In 2008, Dutta alleged that Patekar misbehaved with her on the set of the film "Horn Ok Pleassss". About ten years later, in 2018, she made the allegations public again. The matter then returned to the headlines during the #MeToo movement in India.
Dutta also filed a police complaint against Patekar. An FIR was reportedly registered at Oshiwara police station in Mumbai in October 2018. Patekar, for his part, had denied Dutta's allegations. Following Patekar's death, Dutta's video has brought the old dispute back into discussion.
