A claim is circulating widely on social media about the 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin' scheme. According to it, women beneficiaries will get an instalment of Rs 2,100 directly in their bank accounts from September, and a new Government Resolution (GR) to this effect was issued on October 5. The message has created curiosity and confusion among lakhs of women in the state.

The state government has made available Rs 339.14 crore to give eligible women beneficiaries the August 2026 benefit. The Social Justice and Special Assistance Department has issued official orders on this and handed the funds over to the Women and Child Development Department.

For the current financial year, 2026-27, a provision of Rs 3,000 crore has been made for the Scheduled Caste component of the scheme. The funds mentioned above have been released from this provision only to pay Rs 1,500 for the month of August. This makes it clear that the money is for a single month's instalment.

The administration has directed that care be taken in distributing the funds. The Women and Child Development Department has been given full responsibility for ensuring that only genuine and eligible women receive the scheme's benefit. It has also been asked to ensure that the funds reach only eligible women of this category. The funds are thus not an increased instalment but the regular benefit for August.

The Rs 1,500 now being credited to women's accounts is for August. There is no official or legal basis for the claim that the September instalment will be Rs 2,100 once this amount arrives. No GR was issued on October 5 for the September instalment or for raising the scheme's monthly amount from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100. Women should therefore not believe such misleading messages circulating on social media.

The administration has clarified that any decision on a future increase in the scheme's amount, or on the September instalment, will be announced only through an official GR. Until then, women should not take the social media message as true.
