The state-level launch of the "Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay World Record Job Mega-fair Maharashtra" initiative, aimed at giving young men and women direct access to job opportunities, will take place on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 11 am. The launch will be done by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the SNDT Women's University in Churchgate. The event has been organised on the initiative of Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha. Job fairs will also be held in the Konkan and Nashik divisions on the same day.
Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar, Legislative Assembly Speaker Advocate Rahul Narwekar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Minister Jaykumar Rawal, Minister Akash Fundkar, Mayor Ritu Tawde, MP Milind Deora and MP Arvind Sawant are expected to attend the launch event. Also expected to be present are Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, SNDT Women's University Vice Chancellor Prof. Hemlata Bagul, Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skills University Vice Chancellor Dr. Apoorva Palkar, Commissioner Dr. Amit Saini, Mumbai City District Collector Anchal Goyal, and Directorate of Vocational Education and Training Director Satish Suryawanshi, along with senior officials and dignitaries.
Under this drive by the Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation department, more than 412 job fairs will be held across all districts of the Konkan and Nashik divisions. These include Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in the Konkan division, and Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar in the Nashik division, 12 districts in all. More than 25,000 job opportunities will be made available at the local level through these fairs.
More than 1,500 leading companies and over 3,000 industrial establishments will take part in the mega-fair. A "candidate-vacancy matching" exercise will be carried out to match candidates' educational qualifications, skills and experience with the available vacancies. This will give young men and women direct access to job opportunities as well as information on industries' manpower needs, required skills and career opportunities across various sectors, while allowing companies to select the manpower they need. Pre-placement training in communication skills, personality development and soft skills has also been provided to prepare candidates for interviews.
Candidates and employers wishing to take part in the job mega-fair can register through a QR code. The department has appealed to interested candidates to contact their nearest Industrial Training Institute (ITI) or the district assistant commissioner for skill development, employment, entrepreneurship and innovation guidance centre for further information and guidance.
As part of the same mega-fair, a separate job fair for "Ladki Bahin" beneficiaries has been organised at SNDT Women's University, in which around 600 to 700 women candidates are expected to take part. At stalls set up by various companies, women will get direct information on available vacancies, required qualifications, nature of work, pay scales and the recruitment process. Besides speaking to company representatives, they will also get the opportunity to be interviewed on the spot. The special fair aims to make women financially self-reliant by linking their skills to employment.
