A serious allegation has been made against India batter Virat Kohli. Dinesh Sharma, known as Phalahari Baba, has claimed that Kohli took Rs 5 crore to meet Premanand Maharaj of Vrindavan. The allegation had already been dismissed as false on social media. Kohli's team has now given its first response to the matter.

In a social media post, the team said the allegations were completely wrong. The post reads: "We want to state clearly that the claims made by Phalahari Maharaj Dinesh Sharma about Mr Virat Kohli are completely false, baseless and contrary to the truth. Virat Kohli meets Premanand Maharaj only out of his faith and devotion."

For the past few days, Kohli had been accused of paying Rs 5 crore to meet Premanand Maharaj. After Phalahari Baba's allegation, there was sudden commotion. Within a short time the news spread in the media and the matter became more tangled. Questions had also been raised about Kohli's silence since then.

Meanwhile, Kohli's team has also made a strong appeal to the media. The team said: "We completely reject these claims and appeal to the media to check and verify the facts properly before publishing or airing such statements, and to report responsibly."

On Kohli's meetings with Premanand Maharaj, the former India captain and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma first visited him in 2023. Since then, whenever he gets time, Kohli has kept visiting Vrindavan. On these trips he has also taken along his daughter Vamika and son Akaay. Kohli has also visited Baba Neem Karoli's ashram.

On the cricket field, Kohli has recently returned after playing a three-match ODI series against the West Indies and is spending time with his family. He will next be seen playing for India against New Zealand. India will play a five-match ODI series from November 4. Kohli will once again be expected to perform strongly in the series. He had also scored a fine century in the previous series.
