Talk has begun about a new hybrid version of the Kia Seltos SUV, which is popular in India. Kia has presented the second generation of the Seltos hybrid at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The SUV's highlights are an electric motor paired with a petrol engine, all-wheel drive and good mileage. It is expected to arrive in India next year, but the company has not yet confirmed a launch date.
The new Seltos hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre GDI petrol engine with an electric motor. The front-wheel drive variant makes a combined 152 hp, while the electric all-wheel drive variant makes 176 hp. Both models come with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The mileage figures are based on Europe's WLTP test. The front-wheel drive model delivers up to 18.5 kmpl and the e-AWD variant up to 17.2 kmpl. As the figures are test-based, real-world mileage in India may differ. The e-AWD model has a separate electric motor for the rear wheels, so drive reaches all four wheels without a conventional mechanical connection.
The SUV also has a lithium-polymer battery of about 1.3 kWh. Through regenerative braking, energy released while braking is stored back in the battery. A Vehicle-to-Load feature can also supply power to external devices.
The cabin gets two 12.3-inch displays, wireless smartphone connectivity, over-the-air updates and an AI voice assistant. Selected variants also offer features such as a head-up display and a digital key.
The SUV is 4,430 mm long with a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. Boot space is 536 litres, rising to 1,494 litres with the rear seats folded.
In Germany, the model starts at 37,490 euros, while the e-AWD variant costs 40,190 euros. Converted to Indian rupees, that is roughly Rs 39.87 lakh and Rs 42.74 lakh respectively. These are European prices and should not be taken as the likely price in India.
The Kia Seltos is currently sold in India with petrol and diesel engines. If the hybrid arrives, it could be a new option for customers who value mileage and modern technology. Clear information from the company on the features, price and launch date of the Indian variant is still awaited.
