Chinese carmaker Geely has launched its new premium hybrid SUV, the Galaxy Battleship 700. The vehicle is drawing attention worldwide for its features and long driving range. When bookings opened in China, it received more than 43,900 orders in just one hour.
The SUV's biggest highlight is its combined range. It pairs a 47.14 kWh LFP battery with a powerful petrol engine. On the CLTC standard, with a full petrol tank and a fully charged battery, it can travel up to 1,770 km on a single run.
For daily city commuting, it also has an electric-only mode, in which it can run up to 305 km.
The SUV is big and heavy, but its performance matches that of a sports car. It uses Geely's Thor EM-T hybrid system. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicle, with a turbo petrol engine and three electric motors, produces 1,113 hp of power and 1,330 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.95 seconds.
The SUV is not meant only for smooth roads and is also a good option on rocky and difficult terrain. It has 233 mm of ground clearance and active hydraulic suspension, which keeps the vehicle stable on all kinds of roads.
Its most distinctive feature is the "Crab Walk", which lets the vehicle move diagonally like a crab. The "Waltz Turn" feature lets it turn in very little space, with a turning radius of 3.36 metres.
The cabin has a modern design, with five high-tech screens on the dashboard. A 18.5-litre dual fridge for cold water or soft drinks is provided for long journeys. The 2,900 mm wheelbase gives occupants ample legroom.
The company has not made any official announcement about launching the vehicle in India for now.
