Japanese two-wheeler maker Kawasaki is preparing to bring its new Z300 naked streetfighter motorcycle to India. The bike is reported to have been shown at a private event for dealer partners in Bengaluru.

Bookings are likely to open from October 19, 2026, while the price and other details may be revealed on October 20. The ex-showroom price in the Indian market is expected to be around Rs 3 lakh.

On design and hardware, the Kawasaki Z300 will be based on the company's Ninja 300. Some key parts, including the engine and chassis, are likely to be common to both bikes. The difference is that the Z300 will have a naked streetfighter design instead of full fairing. With a wide handlebar and an upright seating position, it could be useful for city riding as well as long rides.

The bike is expected to get 17-inch alloy wheels, telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear. Disc brakes on both wheels and safety features such as dual-channel ABS may also be offered. Two colour options, black and green, are likely.

On features, the Z300 is expected to get a modern TFT display, with smartphone Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation among the facilities that may be offered. All-LED lighting may also be included. If these features are provided, the bike could look more modern than the older semi-digital instrument cluster.

The engine is expected to be the Ninja 300's 296cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled petrol unit. In the Ninja 300, this engine produces 38.4 bhp of power and 26.1 Nm of torque. Similar figures may be available in the Z300. The bike may be imported into India through the CBU route.

In the Indian market, the Kawasaki Z300 may compete with the Aprilia Tuono 457, KTM 390 Duke and TVS Apache RTR 310. Of these, the Tuono 457 has a twin-cylinder engine, while the KTM and TVS bikes have single-cylinder engines. If the Z300 is priced at around Rs 3 lakh, it could draw attention in this segment. All eyes are now on the October 20 announcement for the final price and features.
