Japanese company Kawasaki is preparing to enter the premium bike segment with a new adventure tourer. A new teaser of the Kawasaki Versys 900 has surfaced, and the bike will make its global debut on October 13, 2026. It could prove important for riders who cover long distances and look for a comfortable riding position and a powerful engine. The bike is likely to launch in India in 2027.

On design, the Kawasaki Versys 900 will be based on the company's Z900. In the Indian market, the model is expected to slot between the Versys 650 and the Versys 1100. The Versys 650 currently has an ex-showroom price of Rs 8.63 lakh, while the Versys 1100 costs Rs 13.89 lakh. On this basis, the likely price of the new Versys 900 could be around Rs 11 lakh. However, the price has not been officially announced so far.

The teaser shows a large windscreen, dual LED headlamps and an additional LED projector lamp beneath them. Special attention is likely to be given to the seat and riding position so that the rider is comfortable on long journeys. A rack at the rear for fitting panniers and a top box is also visible. This could make the bike useful for those who set out on tours carrying luggage.

The frame is expected to be modified compared with the Z900. It could get a bigger fuel tank, longer suspension travel and radial front brake calipers. The fuel tank capacity is likely to be at least 20 litres. Features could include riding modes, traction control, dual-channel ABS, a bi-directional quickshifter and cruise control. A 5-inch TFT display and Bluetooth smartphone connectivity are also expected.

On the engine front, the Kawasaki Versys 900 is likely to get a 948cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled petrol engine. In the Z900, this engine produces 123.6 bhp of power and 98.6 Nm of torque. The Versys 900 could get a similar output. A 6-speed gearbox is expected with the engine. The engine may also be capable of running on E20 fuel.

After its launch in India, the Kawasaki Versys 900 could compete with bikes such as the Triumph Tiger 900 and the BMW F 900 GS. Full details of price, weight and features are not clear for now. All of this will emerge at the global debut, so riders will be watching the reveal on October 13.
