Hyundai has announced the safety features of its new Bayon SUV ahead of its India launch, which has been fixed for October 26, 2026. According to the company, the car will have more than 80 safety features, of which more than 35 will come as standard. With a strong body structure, 6 airbags and Level 2 Pro ADAS technology, the SUV is likely to stand out on safety.
The Bayon uses the Global K Enhanced platform. The body has 69% advanced multi-grade high-strength steel, including hot-stamped steel, UHSS, AHSS and HSS grades. Strong structural parts have been provided in the front apron, dashboard, rear floor and side reinforcement. In an accident, the impact is distributed across different parts, and the structure helps protect the occupants of the cabin.
The main attraction of the SUV is Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS, which offers 23 driver assistance functions. The system works with the help of 3 radars and 12 parking sensors. It includes forward collision warning, collision-avoidance assist for automatic emergency braking, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist and driver attention warning.
On highways, features such as smart cruise control with stop and go, lane following assist and highway driving assist can help reduce driving strain. A rear cross-traffic alert is given while reversing, and there is also a surround view monitor to see the surroundings.
All variants of the Bayon will get 6 airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a rollover sensor. ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors and an emergency stop signal are also provided. All wheels have disc brakes, so the braking system has also been given importance.
On the engine, the Bayon has a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder MPi petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power and 143.8 Nm of torque. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual and an IVT gearbox. A total of 10 exterior finishes are offered, including Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red and Golden Bronze.
Booking requires a payment of Rs 11,000. Bookings are open at Hyundai dealerships and on the company's website. Delivery of the vehicle will take place during this festive season.
