Hyundai has made another splash with its new compact SUV, the Bayon. The car is coming to India soon and will launch in October 2026. Pre-booking has already started at all dealerships. Pictures of the car have been going viral on social media over the past few days. This is not an ordinary SUV, but a 4.2 metre long vehicle that looks premium and is packed with features.

In terms of looks, the company has given the Bayon a fully futuristic design. From the front, sharp cuts are visible on the bonnet, and the standout feature is its H-Edge LED daytime running lights. Connected lighting is common in cars these days, but Hyundai has given this one a distinct design that will make the car instantly recognisable on the road at night. From the side, it gets dual-tone large alloy wheels, thick cladding and roof rails on top, giving the car a strong, bold look. At the rear, it has H-Edge tail lights, a large spoiler and an LED stop lamp on top. The car looks quite premium from the outside.

Stepping inside offers an entirely different experience. Thanks to the 4.2 metre length, there is ample legroom and headroom, and five people can sit comfortably. The biggest highlight inside is the Generative AI voice assistant, meaning you can talk to the car and it will respond. This car has now become more than just a car, it is an intelligent vehicle.

The features list is quite long. It includes a large panoramic sunroof that opens up the entire roof. The seats come with ventilation, so they will not heat up in summer and will provide cool air instead. There is also a premium leather-like cover. A 360 degree camera has been provided to make parking easier. Both front seats are electrically adjustable and automatic AC is also available.

On the engine front, the Bayon will come with a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with both manual and IVT automatic options. Notably, the company will also offer a factory-fitted CNG option. This is the first time Hyundai is offering a factory-fitted dual CNG kit with a manual transmission in an SUV larger than 4 metres. The CNG tank has been placed low, so boot space at the back will not be reduced.

Hyundai has not compromised on safety. All models will get 6 airbags. The car is built on the Global K Enhanced platform. The company claims it will receive a 5 star rating in Bharat NCAP testing. It will also come with Level 2 ADAS, meaning the car will brake on its own, keep to its lane and help avoid accidents.

Overall, the Bayon looks set to be a perfect SUV for families, with a strong look, plenty of features, both petrol and CNG options, and 5 star safety. After its October launch, the car is expected to create a stir in the market.
