Ultraviolette Automotive, a leading player in India's electric two-wheeler market, has officially launched its new and powerful electric bike, the X-47 Venom. The company has built the bike on its all-new VX-100 architecture, or platform. The new platform has cut the bike's weight and improved its efficiency and range considerably.

The introductory price of the base variant is Rs 2.65 lakh, but this applies only to the first 5,000 units. After that, the regular price of this variant will be Rs 3 lakh. The top Recon variant, with an 11 kWh battery pack, is priced at Rs 4.12 lakh. The company has opened bookings from October 22, and deliveries will begin in November.

The company has kept the weight in check using advanced technology. The base variant, with a 7.5 kWh battery, now weighs 180 kg, while the top Recon variant with the 11 kWh battery weighs 195 kg. This is considerably less than the older model. The new battery pack is about 15 per cent lighter and offers 25 per cent higher energy density.

On range, the base variant has a claimed range of 227 km on a single charge, while the top variant has a claimed range of up to 343 km.

The bike also delivers strong performance. The top Recon variant has a peak power of 40 hp and torque of 90 Nm. The electric bike can go from 0 to 60 kmph in just 2.7 seconds and from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds. Its top speed is 155 kmph. It also supports DC fast charging of up to 12 kW.

Several high-tech features have been added for rider convenience and safety. New features include a 7-inch TFT display, cruise control and camera parking assist. For safety, it has dual-channel ABS, traction control and dynamic stability control, while the top variant gets the radar-based UV Hypersense assistance system. Improvements to the cooling system keep the bike's performance strong even when it is ridden for long periods.
