As Navratri begins, an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm sets in everywhere. Sweet dishes are made in homes in these days. In some homes it is vermicelli kheer, in others rice kheer, and sometimes puran poli too. Instead of offering the same set dishes to the goddess every time, apple kheer can be made this time in an easy way.

Apples are always available in the market. The kheer also comes together quickly with very few ingredients, which is why everyone likes making it. During the nine days of Navratri, do try making apple kheer for the goddess's naivedya.

One thing must be kept in mind. Milk often curdles immediately when apple is added to it. So while making the kheer, the apple should be added to the mixture last of all.

The kheer needs apple, milk, cardamom powder, cashew nuts, almonds, sugar, ghee, saffron and pistachios.

First peel the apple and grate it finely. Then put 1 litre of milk to heat in a kadhai. Once the milk comes to a boil, turn the gas to a low flame. After this, keep stirring the milk continuously with a spoon so that it does not stick to the bottom of the kadhai.

When the milk thickens, add cardamom powder and a few strands of saffron to it and mix well.

Now heat ghee in another kadhai. Add the grated apple and sugar and mix. Once the sugar dissolves completely, set this cooked mixture aside to cool. The water from the apple should be dried out completely.

Now add this apple mixture to the thickened milk and mix well. Add finely chopped cashew nuts, almonds and pistachio pieces on top and mix once more.

And the tasty apple kheer is ready in no time. Everyone at home, including small children, will eat it with relish.
