The Gondwana University Young Teachers Association has demanded that a collection centre for university examination answer sheets be started at Gadchandur, on the border of Rajura and Korpana. Office-bearers of the association submitted a memorandum to Gondwana University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Shriram Kawle and Director of the Board of Examination and Evaluation Dr Naveen Mungle.
Those who submitted the memorandum included senior association office-bearer and principal Prakash Shende, the association's divisional coordinator Dr Sharad Belorkar, acting principal Dr Gajanan Raut and Dr Vishal Malekar, along with several other office-bearers.
Five examination centres operate in the Gadchandur area: Vidarbha Mahavidyalaya, Jiwati; Rajiv Gandhi Mahavidyalaya, Patan; Prabhakar Mamulkar Mahavidyalaya, Korpana; Shardrao Pawar Mahavidyalaya, Gadchandur; and Mahatma Gandhi Mahavidyalaya, Gadchandur. At present, answer sheets from all these centres are deposited in Chandrapur. The Chandrapur collection centre is far from the examination centres of these colleges, which is causing difficulty. The chief examination heads working at examination centres in the area have also demanded a collection centre at Gadchandur.
On the ground, the distance from all the colleges named above to Chandrapur is between about 60 and 95 km. At the Jiwati centre in particular, students of three colleges take the examination, so the number of answer sheets there is very large.
Jiwati is about 95 km from Chandrapur. The road is in poor condition and government bus services do not run on time. As a result, answer sheets have to be carried by motorcycle, which is extremely dangerous and risky. The centres at Patan, Korpana and Gadchandur face similar problems.
In view of these conditions and problems, the office-bearers of the Gondwana University Young Teachers Association have demanded that a Gondwana University answer-sheet collection centre be set up at Gadchandur.
