Two programmes were held in Gadchandur on the foundation day of the Republican Party of India (RPI). First, a tribute was paid to the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution and founder of the party. Fruit was then distributed to patients at the Rural Hospital, Gadchandur.

The programme began with a floral garland being offered at the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Gadchandur.

At the Rural Hospital, Gadchandur, G S Kamble Guruji offered prayers before a portrait of Dr Ambedkar. Kamble Guruji also explained the foundation day and the purpose of the programme. Fellow workers present then distributed fruit to the patients.

The founding of the party was also recalled at the programme. It was said that Dr Ambedkar, the founder of the party, laid its foundation, alongside the Dhamma revolution in India, to build a democratic republic in keeping with the Constitution, beyond caste and religion. On September 30, 1956, fifteen days before the Buddhist Dhamma diksha, the national executive of the Scheduled Castes Federation met at Dr Ambedkar's residence at 26 Alipur Road in Delhi. He presided over the meeting. At that meeting the Federation was dissolved and the Republican Party of India was founded.

It was said at the programme that workers who follow Dr Ambedkar's ideas should celebrate the party's foundation day on a large scale and work to promote and spread his Republican Party.

Those present included Ashokkumar Umre, RPI Maharashtra secretary (chitnis); Suraj Upre, Chandrapur youth district president; Prof Ramesh Patil; G S Kamble Guruji; Champatbhau Rajurkar, Korpana taluka organiser; and Hansraj Taksande, taluka working president. Senior workers Ramdas Ramteke, Dinesh Gaikwad, Umesh Gautam, Bhimrao Bhagat and Sunil Walde were also present.

Vice-president Warlooji Nale, Purushottam Upre, Devrao Bhagat, Anaisha Upre, Shivaji Dhupe, Bandu Pipre, Akash Taksande, Anant Ramteke, Ramchandra Sontakke, Rajkumar Durge and others also made an important contribution to the programme.
