The Gadchandur centre replaces Chandrapur, 60 to 95 km from these colleges, as the drop-off point for answer sheets.
Gondwana University will start a centre at Gadchandur, near the Korpana border, to collect examination answer sheets. The Gondwana University Young Teachers Association had been pressing for it for a long time. Dr Naveen Mungle, director of the university's Board of Examination and Evaluation, promptly issued a circular and recognised Mahatma Gandhi Science College, Gadchandur, as the answer-sheet collection centre. Heads of examination centres in the area have expressed satisfaction with the decision.
Association president Dr Sanjay Gore, secretary Dr Vivek Gorlawar, senior office-bearer and principal Prakash Shende, the organisation's divisional coordinator Dr Sharad Belorkar, officiating principal Dr Gajanan Raut, Dr Vishal Malekar and other office-bearers had repeatedly approached Vice-Chancellor Dr Prashant Bokare and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Shriram Kawle on the demand.
With the Gadchandur centre approved, eight examination centres in the Gadchandur, Rajura and Korpana areas have received major relief. They are Vidarbha Mahavidyalaya, Jiwati; Rajiv Gandhi Mahavidyalaya, Patan; Prabhakar Mamulkar Mahavidyalaya, Korpana; Shardrao Pawar Mahavidyalaya, Gadchandur; Shri Shivaji Mahavidyalaya, Rajura; Mahatma Gandhi Mahavidyalaya, Gadchandur; Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, Nanda Phata; and Shivaji Maharaj Mahavidyalaya, Chincholi.
Until now, answer sheets from all these centres were deposited in Chandrapur, which caused them various difficulties. The Chandrapur collection centre is 60 to 95 km from the examination centres of these colleges, so the arrangement had proved inconvenient.
Chief heads of examination centres working in the area had asked the Young Teachers organisation to seek an answer-sheet collection centre at Gadchandur. Given the situation and the hardship, the association's office-bearers kept demanding that the university set one up there. The demand has now been met, and the organisation has thanked the Gondwana University administration.
