A special meeting to review the various activities of the health department in Gondia district was held on 6 October. It was convened under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', currently under way in the state, and was chaired by District Health Officer Dr Abhijeet Golhar.

The meeting, held at the District Health Officer's office, was attended mainly by all taluka health officers of the district and senior district-level officials.

During the meeting, Dr Golhar took stock of the current status of every health campaign in the district. He gave strict instructions that health services be delivered effectively to ordinary people at the lowest level.

Several key health department campaigns were reviewed in detail. The progress of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan was taken up. The campaign is being run to ensure citizens get direct access to good-quality health services.

The 'Tees Ke Paar, Jaanch Aur Salaah' campaign was also discussed, with particular emphasis on screening and guidance for citizens above 30 years of age to prevent non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. Implementation of the 'Mera Gaon, Arogyasampann Gaon' initiative was also reviewed. This village-level initiative has been taken up to keep every family in rural areas healthy.

Guiding the taluka health officers, Dr Golhar said that everyone should complete the fixed target of health check-ups fully and on time in their areas, with the help of medical officers. He said the health system must actively reach the last section of the population in the remote and rural areas of Gondia district.

He also appealed that the schemes be widely publicised through the IEC department and that the campaign be made a success in coordination with health workers and ASHA workers.
