New Zealand's Glen Phillips broke Phil Salt's record for most runs in a bilateral T20I series, though India won the five-match series 3-2.

New Zealand batter Glen Phillips has made history in the T20 series against India. Across the five-match series, Phillips scored 341 runs and set a world record for the most runs in a bilateral T20 international series, overtaking England's Phil Salt.

Phillips, 29, played an unbeaten 65 in the fifth and final T20 international of the series. He made the runs off 38 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes, and the innings played a big part in New Zealand's win. With it, his series tally reached 341.

Salt had scored 331 runs in a T20 international series against the West Indies in 2023-24. Phillips has now broken that record.

In this series Phillips hit one century and three half-centuries. In the fourth match he played a explosive 107 off just 49 balls. His lowest score came in the third T20, 17 runs, while in all the other matches he made at least 60.

Phillips' strike rate across the five matches was 185.32. He hit 29 fours and 20 sixes in that time. He was also the series' highest run-scorer.

Phillips has also become the New Zealand batter with the most runs in any series or tournament. He has joined the list of batters who have scored 50 or more four or more times in a bilateral T20 international series. Before him, Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan did so against England in 2022.

In the last match New Zealand beat India by 7 wickets, but India won the series 3-2.
