The long wait for the Renault Duster Hybrid is set to end. The company will officially launch the model in the Indian market on October 17, 2026. Renault had already launched the new-generation Duster in India this March with 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine options.

A new strong-hybrid version of the popular SUV is now set to arrive. Renault has not yet released official prices or ARAI mileage figures for this variant, but the car will get the company's advanced E-Tech strong-hybrid system, which combines a petrol engine with electric motors and a battery pack.

The new Renault Duster Hybrid uses the HR18 strong-hybrid system, developed by Horse Powertrain, the joint venture between Renault and Geely. At the core of this powertrain is a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine.

It is paired with 2 electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack. One electric motor acts as a starter-generator, while the other powers the wheels. The powertrain generates 160hp of power and 172Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels through a multi-mode automatic gearbox. It uses fixed gear ratios instead of an e-CVT, and the car supports EV, petrol and hybrid driving modes.

According to the company's claim, the SUV can run directly in EV mode, that is, on electric power, for 80 percent of normal city driving. Official ARAI mileage figures for India will be revealed at launch, but sources and market estimates suggest the Duster Hybrid could deliver a strong mileage of around 22 to 25 kmpl.

On pricing, the Renault Duster Hybrid is likely to start at around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected that the company will offer this hybrid system only in the higher variants.

The regular Renault Duster currently on sale starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 10.49 lakh. Compared to the existing models, the new strong-hybrid variant will be somewhat premium and expensive, with the official price to be announced at the launch event on October 17, 2026.
