A fire broke out suddenly on Sunday morning at Nanda Dal Mill in Mouza Chikhli, under the Kalamna police station limits in Nagpur, causing panic at the site. The fire brigade acted swiftly and brought the blaze under control in time. As a result, machinery and other property of the mill worth about Rs 2 crore escaped the flames. According to the information available, goods worth about Rs 10,000 were burnt to ashes.

According to the fire department, Mahesh Gawande called the Kalamna fire station at about 11.47 am on Sunday to report a fire at Nanda Dal Mill on Plot No. 66, Mouza Chikhli. On receiving the call, two fire vehicles were sent to the spot immediately.

The fire team reached the site in just two minutes. Led by Station Officer A.K. Shaikh, firefighters began fighting the blaze as soon as they arrived. The fire had started inside the mill, so there was initial apprehension that it would spread. However, the firefighters brought it under control in time and extinguished it completely with the help of fire extinguishers.

A short circuit is suspected to be the cause, according to the preliminary inquiry. Some of the mill's goods were burnt in the fire. Because the blaze was contained quickly, the mill's machinery worth about Rs 2 crore and other important property remained safe. Had the fire not been controlled in time, there could have been a heavy financial loss.

After the fire was fully under control, the fire team left the site for the fire station at about 12.57 pm. The owner of Nanda Dal Mill is said to be Pushpa Gawande. Kalamna police have been informed of the incident. The police and the departments concerned are investigating the actual cause of the fire.
