All 15 talukas of Chandrapur district have now been declared drought-affected under a Government Resolution. Rainfall was inadequate in the current kharif season of 2026 and also had a break midway, creating a serious drought situation.

The initial list included only 12 talukas of the district. Ballarpur, Brahmapuri and Jiwati had been left out. A new Government Resolution issued on October 14 has added all three to the list of drought-affected talukas.

As a result, all 15 talukas of the district now fall under 'Trigger-1' and 'Trigger-2', and the entire district has been officially declared drought-hit. The state government has now declared drought in a total of 305 talukas. The inclusion of all of Chandrapur's talukas has brought major relief to farmers.

Following the procedure laid down in the Drought Management Code 2016, the state government assessed the situation in the state and has introduced special concessions and measures for drought-affected talukas. To give farmers financial relief, a waiver of land revenue has been granted. Crop loans will be restructured, and recovery of farm-related loans has been put on temporary hold.

A special concession has also been announced on current electricity bills for agricultural pumps. Agricultural power bills for pumps up to 7.5 horsepower had already been waived, so the new concession will apply to pumps of higher capacity. The government has also decided to waive examination fees in full for school and college students in drought-affected areas.

The rules and norms of the Employment Guarantee Scheme have been relaxed so that farmers and farm labourers in rural areas get work. Directions have been given to start as many development works as possible without delay.

Drinking water will be supplied by tanker to scarcity-hit villages. In villages where scarcity has been declared, farmers' agricultural power connections will not be cut under any circumstances. Full care is being taken to ensure there is no shortage of foodgrain, so that drought does not hurt the livelihood of farmers and farm labourers.

Adequate fodder and drinking water will be arranged for livestock, and various water conservation works will be taken up on a war footing. The administration has clearly directed the agencies concerned to plan water and fodder supply for citizens precisely.
