With October nearly over, the CBSE has not issued the 2027 board exam timetable, though it came out in September last year.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had released the date sheet in September last year. This time October is drawing to a close and students are still waiting for the timetable. The delay has heightened anxiety among students and their parents, since it is difficult to plan studies without a final schedule.

Going by past trends, the CBSE could activate the PDF link to the date sheet on its official website, cbse.gov.in, at any time. The timetable for the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 exams is expected soon. The board exams will be held between February and April, while practical exams will begin in January 2027. Students of Classes 10 and 12 therefore do not have much time left for final revision.

The CBSE usually releases the date sheet by the end of September, which gives schools and students four to five months to prepare. The main reasons for the delay this time are believed to be some new academic changes by the board, a review of subject combinations and arrangements for exam centres. The CBSE is also ensuring that students get adequate gaps between exams, so that they do not face mental stress or the pressure of haste.

Downloading the date sheet is simple. First, go to the CBSE's main website, cbse.gov.in. On the homepage, click on 'CBSE 10th & 12th Datesheet' or the section for the latest circulars. The exam timetable PDF will then open on the screen. Download the file, print it and put it up near the study table.

Going by the CBSE's pattern, written exams will begin in mid-February. The Class 10 exams will end by the last week of March, while many vocational and language papers for Class 12 run until the first week of April. Before the written exams begin, that is in January, schools complete internal assessment and practicals. Students have been advised to stay in touch with their schools so that they learn the exact dates of the practicals in time.

The advice on preparation is to complete the syllabus on time and focus on revision without waiting for the date sheet. With the exams near, students should concentrate on solving old sample papers, NCERT books and previous years' question papers instead of studying new material. They should identify their weak subjects and give them at least one hour every day. They should also take special care over time management, so that there is no fear or confusion in the exam hall.
