A 16-year-old girl has gone missing from a village in Nagbhid taluka. The girl disappeared from her home on October 19. Her mother lodged a complaint at Talodhi police station, on the basis of which police have registered a kidnapping case against an unidentified person.

According to police, the case has been registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. The search for the girl is still on. No arrest has been reported so far, as the accused has not yet been identified.

According to information from police sources, the girl's parents had gone to the fields for work as usual on the morning of the incident. The girl was at home at the time. When the parents returned from the fields at around 10 am on October 19, she was not in the house.

The family first searched for her at relatives' homes and in the surrounding area. They thought she might have gone to a relative's home in the village for a mahaprasad and would return by night. On this assumption, the family waited for her until 9 pm.

When she had not returned even late at night, the family grew worried. They spoke by phone to relatives living in other villages and made inquiries everywhere, but found no trace of the girl.

The family says the girl was not the kind to go anywhere on her own. They therefore strongly suspect that an unidentified person enticed her and took her away. This is at present the family's suspicion, and police investigation is yet to confirm it.

On this suspicion, the girl's mother went to Talodhi police station and filed a complaint. On that complaint, police registered a kidnapping case against the unidentified accused under Section 137(2) of the BNS 2023.

A police sub-inspector is conducting the further investigation. Police say the search for the missing girl is continuing in earnest.
