BMW Motorrad has unveiled its new fully faired sportsbike, the BMW F 450 RR, to the global market. In the coming days, the bike could go on sale in several international markets, including India. It is the third motorcycle in the F 450 series. The F 450 GS Adventure and the F 450 R naked bike have already been introduced.
In the Indian market, the bike will compete with the Aprilia RS 457, the Kawasaki Ninja 500 and the KTM RC 390.
On design, it draws inspiration from the BMW S 1000 RR. It has a downward-leaning look at the front and a raised rear. It gets sporty fairing panels, clip-on handlebars and an LED headlamp. Signature RR daytime running lights are also fitted. Apart from the design, the engine, platform and many features are similar to those of the F 450 GS.
The sportsbike has a 420cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled petrol engine. The engine produces 47 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox is paired with the engine. According to the company, the short wheelbase gives the bike better agility and stability in sharp corners.
Features include a 6.5-inch TFT display, all-LED lighting and ABS Pro. Dynamic Brake Control, dynamic traction control and engine drag torque control are also provided. Three riding modes, Rain, Road and Race, come as standard. The company's Easy Ride Clutch and Shift Assistant Pro help reduce manual use of the clutch while changing gears.
The bike will be produced at the TVS Motor Company plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. It has a 14-litre fuel tank, 17-inch alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. It gets KYB USD forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear. Four variants have been introduced: Base, Sport, M Sport and M Sport with Innovation package.
The exact launch date and price in India have not yet been announced. The company has not given a date, so bike enthusiasts are now waiting to see the Indian price.
