Uday Ghag, the BJP's rural taluka president in Chiplun, has resigned from his post. He has expressed strong displeasure with the party's district leadership, and the decision has caused a stir.
Ghag submitted the resignation to BJP district president Satish More. It will now be important to see what decision the district president takes on it.
In his resignation letter, Ghag has noted that while working in the party organisation for some time, he has felt that his post and responsibility are not being given the recognition expected. He has stated this clearly in the letter.
In the letter, he says he has consistently tried to work honestly, giving time to the party's organisational work and taking workers along with him. However, he has written that in some decision-making processes and in some matters of the organisation, the views of local office-bearers and workers do not get the expected importance, which has given rise to strong displeasure in him.
Ghag has said that he adjusted to circumstances many times for the good of the party, but in the present situation he does not feel it is right to discharge his responsibilities effectively as taluka president. He has therefore stated in the letter that he is voluntarily tendering his resignation from the post of taluka president, Bharatiya Janata Party, Chiplun West.
Ghag has made it clear that the decision has not been taken out of any personal interest. He says he took this step to express his displeasure over the present situation in the party organisation and the pain he feels. He has also expressed the expectation in the letter that the party will consider these matters seriously.
Ghag has also said in the letter that he is sincerely grateful for the trust the party has shown in him so far and for the cooperation given by all senior leaders, office-bearers and workers. He has also requested in the letter that his resignation be accepted and that he be relieved of the responsibility of the post.
All eyes are now on what decision district president Satish More takes on the resignation.
