Bajaj Auto has launched a new bike, the Bajaj Pulsar N250SS, in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price in Delhi is Rs 1,59,406. The bike sits above the company's popular Pulsar N250. The new model has significant changes to the engine, gearbox, electronics and instrument console, which means the differences are spread across several parts of the bike rather than one.

The bike arrives in the 25th anniversary year of the Pulsar brand. It may appeal to riders who want a sporty look along with modern features.

The old LCD console has been replaced by a 5-inch TFT display. It supports Google Maps mirroring, so riders can see navigation information on the display. The bike also gets a quickshifter and a USB Type-C charging port. These features can help riders charge their smartphones on long journeys and make gear changes more convenient.

The bike has a 4-valve engine that produces 25 PS of power and 22 Nm of torque. The standard Pulsar N250 produces 24.5 PS and 21.5 Nm. Power and torque in the new model are thus each up by 0.5 units.

The transmission has also changed significantly. A 6-speed gearbox replaces the earlier 5-speed unit, which may give riders more options for choosing the right gear on the highway. The quickshifter allows gears to be changed without using the clutch.

The bike has electronic throttle body (ETB) technology, which provides support for riding modes. Together with the existing ABS modes, these help change the riding experience according to conditions. Adjustable levers, a separate hazard switch and a panic brake alert are also provided. The panic brake alert warns vehicles behind when the brakes are applied suddenly and hard.

The Pulsar N250SS is offered in four colours: Atlantic Blue, Brooklyn Black, Fiery Red Orange and Pearl Metallic White. With more features and improved specifications than the standard N250, it positions itself as a premium option. It remains to be seen how far riders consider the higher price worth paying for the additional features.
