Australia beat South Africa by 214 runs in the first Test of the three-match series in Durban, taking a 1-0 lead. The win also took them to the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) points table.

Australia had lost six wickets for 124 in the first innings, but the lower order steadied the innings. Matt Renshaw was the hero of the win, batting through the collapse to score 190, ten short of a double century.

Renshaw put on 83 with Pat Cummins and then 123 with Nathan Lyon. Australia's bowlers then kept a firm hold on the match and did not let the South African batters play a big innings.

In the second innings, Renshaw scored another 82. Australia declared at 314 for six, setting South Africa a target of 421. South Africa found the target beyond them and Australia won the match.

With the win, Australia are first in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points table. They have won nine of their 11 matches so far, and their points percentage (PCT) is 81.82.

India are fifth with 51.52 per cent of points. They have collected 68 points from 11 matches so far.
