Nathan Lyon becomes first player to score 1,000 Test runs batting at No. 10
The Australian off-spinner reached the landmark with a 27 in the first innings of the opening Test against South Africa in Durban.

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon has set a record that no player had set before him in the first Test between South Africa and Australia, currently being played in Durban.
Lyon came in to bat at No. 10 in the first innings. He faced 92 balls and scored 27 runs, including five fours. With that innings he became the first player in the world to cross 1,000 Test runs while batting at No. 10.
Lyon has so far scored 1,705 runs in 144 matches, of which 1,019 have come while batting at No. 10. Former England player Stuart Broad is second on the list, with 825 runs scored at No. 10.
Australia, batting first, scored 390 in 137.2 overs in the first innings. Matt Renshaw was the team's highest scorer, making 190 off 397 balls. He missed out on a double century, getting out for 190.
Captain Pat Cummins came in at No. 9 and played a fine innings of 43 off 98 balls.
For South Africa, Wiaan Mulder was the most successful bowler, taking 4 wickets for 68 runs in 27 overs. Marco Jansen also took 3 wickets.
Lyon's bowling record is also outstanding. The spinner has dismissed 571 batters in 143 Tests. In ODIs he has taken 29 wickets in 29 matches, while in two T20 internationals he has taken one wicket in each. Lyon made his Test debut for Australia in 2011 and has played Test cricket for his country ever since.
In Test cricket, Lyon has taken five wickets in an innings 24 times and four wickets 26 times. He has also taken 10 wickets in a match five times.
