Amazon says Great Indian Festival 2026 opens with its biggest first day, orders up over 100%
Amazon said the sale's first day was its biggest ever, with customers ordering over 100 per cent more products than last year and orders arriving from every pincode.

Amazon said on Tuesday that the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 has had a historic start. According to the company, it is the biggest opening in the history of the shopping festival, and the first day has become the day with the most purchases. On Amazon.in, customers ordered over 100 per cent more products than last year.
Orders came from every pincode in the country. Purchases were made across categories including smartphones, consumer electronics, fashion, beauty, home goods, kitchen products and daily essentials. Sellers and brands are offering the lowest prices of the year on lakhs of products.
One in every two customers bought on EMI, while one in every three products purchased carried cashback. Prime members have saved over 100 per cent more than last year, as they are getting offers on many products meant only for them.
On delivery, customers ordered lakhs of offer products as soon as the day began, and lakhs of these orders were delivered to them within a few hours. In the more than 120 cities where Amazon Now operates, one in every two products was delivered within minutes.
Saurabh Srivastava, Vice-President, Amazon India, said: "The early trends of the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 have exceeded even our most optimistic expectations. After opening the festival to all customers from midnight, new records have been set in customer participation, number of orders and speed of delivery." He said the number of products ordered had risen by 100 per cent. According to him, customers from metros to smaller towns are choosing Amazon.in for the best offers, greater variety and faster delivery, and the festive season has only just begun.
In smartphones and electronics, sales of premium Android smartphones rose 70 per cent over last year. Apple iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, OnePlus Nord 6, Xiaomi 17 and iQOO 15R were among customers' favourites. Among laptops, MacBook Neo sales were 65 times those of a normal day, while premium wearables sold 80 times as much. Products from Garmin, Apple, Samsung and Amazfit were widely liked.
Home entertainment sales were 77 times those of a normal day. TVs of 55 inches and above made up 65 per cent of all TVs sold. Sales of premium home theatre systems from Sony, JBL and Samsung were 100 times a normal day in the first 12 hours. Sales of large home appliances rose 50 times. Front-load washing machines of 9 kg and above capacity sold 80 times as much, dryers and dishwashers 60 times, and refrigerators 60 times.
In fashion, sales were 7 times those of a normal day. Seven pairs of shoes were sold every second, and Nike sales were 16 times higher. More than 1,500 pairs of jeans were sold every hour and more than 100 kurtas every minute. Women's ethnic wear sales were 4 times higher. In beauty, one in every four products bought in the first 12 hours came from this category, and more than 150 units of premium skincare and haircare products were sold every minute, 5 times a normal day.
