Amazon says first-day orders in Great Indian Festival sale more than doubled from last year

The company says the number of products ordered rose over 100 per cent from last year, with buyers from every pincode in India.

Amazon's festive sale, the Great Indian Festival 2026, has drawn a strong response from customers, the company said. According to the company, it recorded its biggest start ever on the first day of the sale. The number of products ordered rose by more than 100 per cent compared with last year, and customers from every pincode in India made purchases.

The company said demand was especially high for smartphones, electronics, fashion, beauty, home products and everyday essentials.

In an announcement made on October 8, 2026, Amazon said customers across the country bought lakhs of products carrying offers as soon as the sale began. Many of these orders were delivered within a few hours. In the more than 120 cities where the Amazon Now service is available, one in every two products was delivered within minutes, the company claimed.

Bank discounts, exchange offers, no-cost EMI and options such as Amazon Pay Later were offered to attract customers. According to the company, one in every two customers used EMI, while one in every three products bought carried cashback. Amazon also said Prime members saved more than 100 per cent more than last year through special offers in the first 12 hours.

On smartphones, the company said sales of premium Android phones rose 70 per cent from last year. Customers showed a particular liking for the iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, OnePlus Nord 6, Xiaomi 17 and iQOO 15R. Among laptops, sales of the MacBook Neo were 65 times those of a normal day, and sales of premium wearables were claimed to have risen 80 times. Products from Apple, Samsung, Garmin and Amazfit drew a good response.

Sales of home entertainment products were 77 times those of a regular day, Amazon said. Of the televisions sold, 65 per cent had screens of 55 inches or larger. Sales of premium home theatre systems rose 100 times in the first 12 hours. Sales of large home appliances rose 50 times, and premium front-load washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and refrigerators also saw good demand.

Fashion sales rose seven times compared with a normal day. Shoes from brands such as Nike, Skechers, New Balance and Adidas were in demand. Sales of women's ethnic wear rose four times, while men's shirts and T-shirts rose five times. In beauty, one in every four products bought in the first 12 hours came from this category. Sales of premium skincare and haircare products rose five times over a normal day, and sales of air fryers and air purifiers rose 30 times, the company said.

These sales figures were released by Amazon itself and are based on the company's own comparisons. Customers shopping in the sale are advised to check the final price, the terms of bank offers, EMI charges and the product warranty before deciding.
