A big online sale is coming for festival shoppers. E-commerce platforms Amazon and Flipkart have both announced their sales. Amazon's Great Indian Festival sale will begin on October 8, while Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale will begin on October 9.

Some customers will get access before the official start. Flipkart Plus and Black members, as well as Flipkart credit card holders, will get early access to the Big Billion Days sale on October 8. Plus members can thus begin shopping a day early.

Customers shopping in both sales will be offered instant discounts and cashback. Card offers will also be available during the sales.

In Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale, purchases made with select Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards will get an instant discount of up to 10 per cent. Flipkart is also offering an instant discount of up to 10 per cent on the Flipkart Axis Bank co-branded card. In addition, cashback of up to 10 per cent will be available on the first transaction through the Flipkart Super.money service. Certain terms and conditions apply.

In Amazon's Great Indian Festival sale, an instant discount of up to 10 per cent may be available only on purchases made with SBI debit and credit cards. There will also be offers on some EMI transactions. Under a separate offer, cashback of up to 35 per cent may be available on eligible purchases, subject to a maximum limit of Rs 150. An option of 10 per cent cashback on eligible purchases made with Amazon Pay Later is also being offered. Customers shopping with the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card may get unlimited cashback of up to 5 per cent.

One point is worth keeping in mind. If a product in the sale is marked as carrying a discount of up to 10 per cent, it does not mean the purchase will get the full 10 per cent. The discount actually received depends on the purchase amount, card eligibility and the maximum limit of the offer. It is therefore better to check the terms of the offer before buying.
