Akasa Air, which describes itself as India's fastest-growing airline, has launched a new range of in-flight food through Cafe Akasa. According to the airline, the range brings together gourmet experiences, familiar Indian flavours, inspiration from around the world and options shaped by the changing tastes of today's travellers on a single platform.

Akasa Air describes itself as an experience-led airline and believes a journey begins long before the destination is reached. From the welcome to the meal, every interaction on board is a chance to make the journey more pleasant, consistent and memorable, it says. The airline says the Indian traveller today is more eager to try new things in food, is exploring new cuisines and ingredients, and values familiar flavours tied to culture and roots just as much. With its fourth menu since it began operations, Cafe Akasa is carrying this thinking forward, adding more variety, imagination and choice to the in-flight experience.

The new menu includes special options such as chicken pulimunchi sushi, which brings the tangy, spicy chicken pulimunchi of coastal Karnataka in the form of sushi, a dish liked the world over. The Vietnamese chicken salad brings South-East Asian flavours to a protein-rich meal. The grilled chicken steak pairs a pan-Asian influence with the taste of mango pickle. The Asian chicken sandwich is a familiar and easy option with contemporary flavours.

The tandoori soya wrap is a Jain-friendly option. It has smoky tandoori-marinated soya and fresh vegetables, and offers both taste and protein in an easy format. A "Kids Sky Tweets" combo has been designed specially for young children.

New flavours have also been added to the beverage options. These include Popping Sea Buckthorn, a modern drink based on the Himalayan berry. Other options include a Colombian brew, South Indian filter coffee and sugar-free coffee.

Variety of choice is central to the Cafe Akasa experience. The menu offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to suit different tastes, food preferences and travel occasions. From light snacks to wholesome comfort food, Cafe Akasa offers a collection of options that gives passengers more choice and makes in-flight food an important part of the whole journey.

At the launch, Narayan T.V., Chief Marketing Officer of Akasa Air, said: "At Akasa Air, we believe that being an experience-led airline means making every stage of the journey matter. Food has a unique power to shape our travel experience, to comfort us and to connect us with different places and cultures. With this new Cafe Akasa menu, we are bringing the influence of food cultures from across India and around the world, with protein-rich, health-focused and delicious options. Our aim is very clear: to make every journey more thoughtful and complete through food, delighting passengers, bringing them joy and leaving a lasting impression on their minds."

Food at Akasa Air is also a way of celebrating India's rich cultural diversity. Since beginning operations in August 2022, Cafe Akasa has offered special dishes inspired by occasions through the year and regional traditions. From Makar Sankranti, Valentine's Day, Holi and Eid to Mother's Day, International Yoga Day, the monsoon, Navroz, Onam, Ganeshotsav, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali and Christmas, these limited-time options bring a festive mood and different flavours on board. Passengers can also pre-book cakes from the regular Cafe Akasa menu to celebrate birthdays and special occasions with loved ones in the sky.

Akasa Air's commitment to the environment is visible across the in-flight experience. The packaging used for Cafe Akasa's perishable food is 100 per cent recyclable and paper-based. It is ethically sourced from environment-friendly crops. The packaging is made without bleach or optical brightening agent (OBA) chemicals, while the wooden cutlery served on board is fully biodegradable.

The new menu is available across Akasa Air's network. Passengers can easily pre-book it through the airline's official website, www.akasaair.com, its mobile app and major travel agents.
