Airtel has announced a partnership with YouTube to give prepaid customers YouTube Premium benefits through a Rs 200 OTT top-up that includes 30GB of extra data.
Airtel, one of the country's major telecom companies, on Friday announced a new offer for its prepaid customers. The company has partnered with YouTube so that customers can get the benefits of YouTube Premium. The offer is being made through an affordable entertainment top-up.
The company said mobile data is no longer used only for calls or messages. People use it to watch shows and films, follow content creators and listen to songs. Airtel made the announcement in view of the changing ways in which customers use data.
Under the arrangement, users will be able to watch YouTube, including YouTube Shorts, without advertisements. They will also get background play, offline downloads and YouTube Music Premium. Airtel customers will thus be able to watch and listen to shows, films, creators' videos and music in one place.
In a press note, Airtel said YouTube Premium is now being added to its existing prepaid entertainment portfolio. The telecom service provider said the move will benefit customers who spend a lot of data on watching videos, following creators, listening to songs and discovering new content.
Customers can avail of YouTube Premium through Airtel's Rs 200 OTT top-up. The top-up gives users 30GB of extra data and access to other entertainment services. Airtel's existing range already includes more than 18 OTT platforms, with services such as Prime Video, JioHotstar, ZEE5 Premium and SonyLIV.
To claim YouTube Premium through the Airtel app, users must follow a few simple steps. First, the eligible Airtel prepaid number must be recharged so that the connection stays active. Then the Rs 200 OTT top-up, which includes 30GB of extra data, has to be purchased.
Users should then open the Airtel app on their smartphone and go to the Rewards and OTT section. They should tap the YouTube Premium benefit shown there and follow the on-screen instructions to claim the benefits.
