The festival at Malabar Hill will have over 110 stalls, free workshops and a puppet show, with a drive to help drought-hit farmers.
Mumbaikars have a chance this year to do their Diwali shopping at a three-day 'Swadeshi Diwali Utsav 2026' at Priyadarshini Park in Malabar Hill. The festival will run from Friday, October 30, to Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Adv. Sushiben Shah, the organiser of the festival and a Shiv Sena spokesperson, gave the details. According to her, the aim is to promote swadeshi products, give entrepreneurs from Maharashtra and across the country a platform of their own to sell their goods, and encourage women's self-help groups and businesspeople. This is the second year of the festival.
The inauguration will be held at 6 pm on Friday, October 30. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, MP Dr Shrikant Shinde and Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora will be present. Leaders Meenatai Kamble and Seema Singh, along with other dignitaries, will also attend.
Sushiben Shah said more than 110 stalls will be set up at the festival. Swadeshi products, handicrafts, products made by local entrepreneurs and items prepared by women's self-help groups will be displayed and sold. More than 20 free workshops have also been arranged for visitors. A puppet show will be another attraction.
According to the organisers, the larger aim of the initiative is to let local producers, small entrepreneurs, women's self-help groups and new entrepreneurs reach customers directly and give their businesses momentum. They also want people to choose swadeshi products first. The festival will carry the message of promoting made-in-India goods and local businesses through Diwali shopping.
The festival also has a social side. In view of the drought conditions in Maharashtra, social initiatives to help drought-affected farmers will be run through the festival. Sushiben Shah said the thinking behind it is to carry out social responsibility while celebrating a festival and to extend a helping hand to the needy. The festival will also convey the message of keeping a sense of social responsibility alive along with joy.
Finally, Sushiben Shah has appealed to Mumbaikars to come to the three-day Swadeshi Diwali Utsav 2026 and buy swadeshi products. She asked them to encourage local entrepreneurs and women's self-help groups and to take part in the social initiative being run to help drought-affected farmers.
