The technical flights on the Delhi and Bengaluru routes are not expected to affect regular passenger services at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.
Special aircraft movements have been scheduled at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur on October 31 and November 1. Air India Express will operate a total of three ferry flights over the two days, on the Nagpur-Delhi and Nagpur-Bengaluru routes.
Regular passengers are not expected to face any trouble. The special flights are described as technical flights and are not likely to affect scheduled flight services.
A ferry flight differs from a regular passenger flight. Airlines use such flights to move an aircraft from one airport to another, whether to change its location, carry out maintenance or ensure an aircraft is available at another airport. They usually carry no passengers.
According to the schedule released by Air India Express, two ferry flights will leave Nagpur on Saturday, October 31. The first, IX 5704, will fly from Nagpur to Delhi at 9 am. The second, IX 588, will leave Nagpur for Bengaluru at 10 pm. Both flights will be operated to meet the aircraft's operational requirements.
The third special ferry flight will operate on Sunday, November 1. Air India Express flight IX 5703 will leave Delhi and arrive at Nagpur International Airport at 9.40 am. In all, three special aircraft movements have been scheduled over the two days.
The Nagpur airport and airline administration have reportedly completed the preparations needed for the smooth operation of the flights. The purpose of the ferry flights is to meet requirements related to aircraft operations and availability. No inconvenience to regular passenger flights is expected because of them.
