Parcel explodes at courier office in Latur's Udyog Bhavan area, employee critically hurt

A parcel exploded suddenly at Umate Courier Service in the Udyog Bhavan premises in Latur. The blast occurred while goods were being loaded and unloaded. An employee handling the parcel was seriously injured, and the courier vehicle was also badly damaged.

Goods were being unloaded from and loaded onto the vehicle as on any other day when the loud explosion occurred. The blast was so powerful that the roof and the windows of the vehicle were ripped off and fell. The incident caused panic across the area.

The injured employee was immediately admitted to a private hospital. His condition is reported to be critical.

Latur Police and a forensic team reached the spot soon after being informed. Police are examining the burst parcel. They are trying to find out who sent it and exactly what it contained.

A gun was also found in the courier vehicle. No official information has so far emerged on whose gun it is, why it was brought, or whether it has any connection with the parcel that exploded. Police are looking into all these questions. The recovery of the gun from the vehicle has given the investigation a different turn.

The operators of the courier service said they have no information about the contents of parcels arriving from outside. However, a record is kept of what is in the parcels sent from their office. For this reason, work is under way to trace the source of the exploded parcel and its contents.

The actual cause of the blast is not yet clear. Answers to what was in the parcel, who sent it and how the explosion happened will come only after the investigation. Police are also looking into how the gun came to be in the vehicle.
