A 33-year-old woman and her six-year-old son died on Friday evening after falling from the 18th floor of a residential building in Signature Park society, near Dange Chowk. Wakad police were informed of the incident at about 6.30 pm on Friday, October 30, and have begun an investigation.
The deceased have been identified as Ekta Manoj Bhangad (33) and her six-year-old son. The family is originally from Rajasthan and had been living on the seventh floor of the same housing society for the past two years.
According to the information available, Ekta's husband, Manoj Bhangad, had left home in the morning for work, while Ekta and their son were at home. In the evening, residents reportedly heard a sound coming from the duct area of the building. When they went to look, they found the woman and the child lying on the ground.
During the initial inquiry, police examined the society's CCTV recordings. The footage is said to show the woman going up in the lift with her son and getting off on the 18th floor. The two then fell from the building. Police are currently examining the footage.
