A court in Shivajinagar fined nine people Rs 1,000 each after a brawl broke out during a hearing; a case has also been registered against them.

A ruckus broke out during a hearing in the Judicial Magistrate First Class court in Shivajinagar, Pune, on Friday, October 30. Some people began abusing and shoving one another inside the courtroom, causing panic.

Police personnel and court staff who came to intervene were also mistreated. The incident briefly halted the court's work.

According to police, Court No. 1 of the Judicial Magistrate First Class was due to hear RCC Case No. 6264/2025, linked to Samarth police station. The case is State of Maharashtra versus Prashant Namdev Pawar and others.

At around 11:50 am on Friday, the judge was pronouncing a verdict in another case. At that moment the complainants, the accused and their families arrived in court. An argument began between them and soon turned into abuse and a scuffle.

Those involved were Namdev Umaji Pawar, Prashant Namdev Pawar, Shanta Namdev Pawar, Sopan Vitthal Chavan, Amit Vilas Pawar, Asha Gorakhnath Chavan, Savita Lahu Chavan, Lahu Narayan Chavan and Pranjal Lahu Chavan.

Police and court staff stepped in to end the fight, but they were pushed as well. This disrupted the proceedings in the court.

Taking cognisance of the incident, the court held the nine people guilty and fined each Rs 1,000. Anyone who does not pay the fine will have to serve one month of simple imprisonment.

A case has also been registered against all nine at Shivajinagar police station in Pune city, under Sections 132, 267, 189(2), 190, 191(1), 191(2) and 194(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Senior Police Inspector Girishkumar Dighavkar confirmed that the case has been registered.
