Ektaa Manoj Bhangad and her son died after falling from the 18th floor of Signature Park society at Dange Chowk, Wakad police said.

A 33-year-old woman and her young son died after falling from the 18th floor of the Signature Park housing society in the Dange Chowk area of Wakad, Pimpri-Chinchwad, on the evening of Friday, October 30, 2026. The incident has shaken the neighbourhood.

The dead are Ekta Manoj Bhangad and her son Madhav Bhangad. Most accounts give the boy's age as six, though one police account says seven. Police were told about two bodies lying beneath the building at around 6.30 pm. Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Salunkhe of Wakad police station put the time of the incident at about 6 pm.

A Wakad police team reached the society soon after being informed and found the bodies of a woman and a child. On first inspection, officers felt the two had jumped from the 18th floor. A forensic van was called at once, and police are drawing up a panchnama of the scene with its help.

Police have also gone through CCTV footage from cameras in the building. It shows Ekta riding the lift to the 18th floor with her son. Both their slippers were later found near the gallery on that floor. On this basis, police say it prima facie appears that Ekta jumped with the child and ended her life.

Police also recovered a three-page suicide note from the spot. It is said to speak of the woman's illness and her worry about her son's future. She is said to have written that she was tired of being ill and was ending her life, and that she was taking the boy with her because he would miss her. Even so, police say the actual reason is not yet clear. They are examining the contents of the note along with other angles. Inspector Salunkhe said the exact cause of the deaths has not come to light.

According to police, the Bhangad family is originally from Rajasthan and had lived in the same society for about two years, though one account says Ekta had lived there for several years. Only three people lived in the flat: Ekta, her husband Manoj Bhangad and their son. Manoj works for a company in an IT park in Yerawada.

Manoj left for work as usual at around 10 am on Friday, leaving his wife and son at home. At around 6.30 pm, residents heard a loud noise from the building's internal duct. Startled, they rushed down and found Ekta and the child lying unconscious and covered in blood. They informed Wakad police immediately. Residents have expressed shock and sorrow over the deaths.

Police said this is all the preliminary information available for now. Questioning is continuing, and Wakad police will share further details if they emerge.
