BSNL cut the services at the Food and Drug Administration's Pune divisional office in Moshi over dues, leaving staff to use their own mobile data.
Pimpri Chinchwad, October 30, 2026: Internet and telephone services have been down for the past eight days at the Pune divisional office of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Moshi. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) disconnected the services because of unpaid bills. As a result, officers and employees have to use the mobile internet on their personal phones for routine office work.
The problem has recurred several times in the past few months. The bills are paid only when the senior office releases money for administrative expenses, after which the services are restored. But because of delays in payment, the connections are cut repeatedly and officers and staff have to bear the inconvenience.
Internet and phones are essential for the FDA's day-to-day work, whether it is government correspondence, exchange of information or other administrative tasks. With the services down, employees are having to depend on their personal mobile internet. This shows that regular funds are needed to keep basic facilities running in government offices.
Girish Hukre, Joint Commissioner, FDA (Drugs), Pune division, said, "We have informed the senior office about the need for funds for the office's expenses. The internet and telephone services will be restored soon. For now these services are not available, but the rest of the office's work is continuing."
The Pune divisional office oversees the FDA's work in five districts: Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Solapur. Repeated disruption of internet and phone services could affect administrative coordination across the division.
Business representatives who visit the office say money should be made available regularly so that services run without interruption and the problem does not keep recurring.
The outage has also caused concern among local residents. They are asking how the FDA's Moshi office can be contacted in case of an urgent matter. They say the office's telephone and internet services should be on at all times so that people can reach it easily and the public gets efficient service.
