Two drones used in a show at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium crashed on a Churchgate platform on Wednesday night, injuring a 37-year-old commuter. Police have registered a case against unknown persons.

A major accident occurred during a drone show at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Two drones flown for the show went out of control and fell inside Churchgate railway station. One of them hit Hemant Mahotsavkar, a 37-year-old commuter standing on the platform, and injured him.

Mahotsavkar suffered a serious head injury and began bleeding. The sight caused panic at the station for a while. Railway police have taken both drones into their possession and are investigating how the accident happened.

According to preliminary information, a telecom company's event was held at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night, and the drone show was part of it. During the show, drones flying in the sky suddenly went out of control, creating a disorderly situation in the surrounding area.

At around 8.10 pm, two drones veered towards the nearby Churchgate station of Western Railway. Both then fell on platform number 3. Fear spread among the commuters at the station.

Mahotsavkar was standing on platform number 3, in the section for Virar-bound trains. At that moment, one of the drones coming down from the sky hit him directly on the head. The force of the impact injured his head and he bled heavily.

As everything happened suddenly, commuters nearby initially could not understand what had occurred. Many people panicked on seeing blood flowing from the injured commuter's head, and there was commotion at the station for some time.

Railway security personnel reached the spot immediately and helped the injured man. He was first given primary treatment and then taken by ambulance and admitted to G.T. Hospital in Mumbai.

On receiving news of the incident, railway police took charge of the matter and seized both drones from the spot. It has emerged that a case has been registered against unknown persons in connection with the accident.

Police are now trying to find out how the drone show equipment suddenly went out of control, how it reached Churchgate station and who is responsible for the accident.

The use of drones at big events is increasing in a densely populated city like Mumbai. The Churchgate incident has made it clear that a drone going out of control can pose a serious threat to public safety.

The accident at a crowded public place such as a railway station has raised questions about adherence to safety rules, technical control and emergency arrangements while flying drones. It is hoped that the investigation will establish the real reason the drones went out of control.
