Maharashtra transfers IPS, RPS officers; three Thane officers get one-year extension

A major reshuffle has taken place in the Maharashtra police. The state Home Department has issued orders transferring IPS and RPS officers. The same order also grants a one-year extension to three senior Thane police officers, which has drawn particular attention.

The Home Department issued the government order on November 2, 2026. The decision was taken on the recommendation of Police Establishment Board No. 1. Those given an extension include Amarsing Jadhav of the Thane city police Crime Branch, Prashant Kadam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5, and Shivraj Patil of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Konkan Range.

According to sources, SIT chief Amarsinh Jadhav and Deputy Commissioner Prashant Kadam have been given the one-year extension because of the Pradeep Purnekar murder case. This will allow the officers to continue in their present posts for another year.

Under the order, Additional Superintendent of Police Anmol Mittal has been transferred to Ambajogai in Beed district. Meena Makhwana, posted in Zone 1 of Thane city, has been made Additional Superintendent of Police, Thane Rural. Jayant Bajbale has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Thane city. While transfers of senior police officers continue across the state, the one-year extension given to Thane officers is the talking point.
