The Kalyan Lok Sabha unit of Yuva Sena has handed a cheque for Rs 10 lakh to the Dr Shrikant Shinde Foundation to provide financial help to drought-hit farmers in Maharashtra. The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Yuva Sena working president Purvesh Sarnaik and at the initiative of Yuva Sena Kalyan Lok Sabha district president Jiten Patil.
Conditions resembling a serious drought appear to be developing in the state. Against this backdrop, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had appealed to people to celebrate Navratri and other religious and cultural events with simplicity, to stand firmly with the farmers who feed the nation. He had appealed that whatever money is saved on these festivities be given to help drought-hit farmers.
A positive response to this appeal by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and MP Dr Shrikant Shinde is now being seen. Yuva Sena has stepped forward to help farmers battered by the drought, and as part of this a cheque for Rs 10 lakh has been handed to the Dr Shrikant Shinde Foundation.
The help was extended as an act of social responsibility, under the guidance of working president Purvesh Sarnaik and at the initiative of district president Jiten Patil. The financial aid is an attempt to support farmers struggling because of the drought.
