The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in parts of Konkan, western Maharashtra and Vidarbha, with no clear sign yet of a rise in the cold.

November has begun, but Maharashtra has yet to see the cold that was expected. Parts of the state remain warm and humid, while some districts may get rain showers.

A cyclonic system over the Bay of Bengal is changing the weather in the state. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain for some areas. Thunderstorms and strong winds are forecast in some districts of Konkan, western Maharashtra and Vidarbha.

In Konkan, the weather is likely to change from November 2. Palghar district is mostly likely to stay dry. Mumbai, Thane and Raigad may see light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. A yellow alert is in place for Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts, where winds may blow at 40 to 50 km per hour in places. Rain may continue in parts of Konkan on November 3 as well, so people should follow local weather updates.

In north Maharashtra, Nashik and the ghat areas may see thunder with light to moderate showers. Dhule, Nandurbar and Jalgaon districts are likely to stay mostly dry. Over the next three to four days, most of north Maharashtra may stay dry, with light showers in places. Temperatures may dip somewhat, but there are as yet no clear signs of the cold increasing.

In western Maharashtra, light rain is forecast in Pune, Sangli and Solapur districts. A yellow alert has been issued for the ghat areas of Satara and Kolhapur, where winds may blow at 30 to 40 km per hour and thundery rain may fall. People in the ghat areas and those planning to travel should keep track of the latest forecast.

Most districts of Marathwada are likely to stay dry and warm. No alert has been issued for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed and Hingoli. Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv districts may get light to moderate showers, so the weather in these areas may change locally.

In Vidarbha, most districts may stay dry, warm and humid on November 2, with clouds in some places. A yellow alert for rain is expected to be issued for most of Vidarbha on November 3, which means the chance of rain may rise from the next day.

Overall, the state is seeing mixed weather at the start of November, with rain clouds in some places and heat and humidity in others. Given the effect of the Bay of Bengal system, the weather may fluctuate over the next few days. The wait for the cold continues, and people have been asked to follow the weather department's official advisories on rain, thunder and strong winds.

The temperature forecast for the next 10 days is as follows. Tuesday, November 3: maximum 36 and minimum 26 degrees Celsius. Wednesday, November 4: 36 and 27 degrees. Thursday, November 5: 36 and 26 degrees. Friday, November 6: 36 and 27 degrees. Saturday, November 7: 35 and 25 degrees. Sunday, November 8: 37 and 26 degrees. Monday, November 9: 37 and 25 degrees. Tuesday, November 10: 37 and 25 degrees. Wednesday, November 11: 36 and 26 degrees. Thursday, November 12: 37 and 25 degrees Celsius.
