Tara Satke, 45, died during treatment after a tractor-trolley collided with her moped on a cement road in Bhandara district's Tumsar taluka on Tuesday evening.

A woman was killed and a 16-year-old boy was critically injured when a tractor and a moped collided near the Parsawada nullah in Tumsar taluka of Bhandara district. The accident took place on the cement road at around 7:30 pm on Tuesday (October 27). A pall of gloom has settled over the area.

The woman who died has been identified as Tara Satke, 45, a resident of Rengepar. She was travelling with Sumeet Rajesh Gupta, 16, on a moped bearing registration number MH-35/DD-1969. The two were headed from Silegaon towards Parsawada village.

A blue tractor was coming from the opposite direction, towards Silegaon, with a trolley loaded with husk attached at the rear. On the cement road in front of the Parsawada nullah, the tractor hit the moped hard.

Both Satke and Gupta were seriously injured in the collision. On news of the accident, they were taken to the rural hospital in Sihora for treatment. A medical team began treating them there, but Satke died during treatment. Her family has been plunged into grief.

Gupta is still undergoing treatment and his condition is said to be critical. His family remains anxious about the health of the minor.

Tractors and trolleys are used to carry farm produce on village roads. Drivers must therefore keep their speed in check, give oncoming vehicles full room and follow road safety rules. After the accident near the Parsawada nullah, the question of safety on rural roads has come up for discussion once again.
