The Additional Director General of Police has permitted a chargesheet under MCOCA against two accused with 43 cases between them, in a case registered at Wardha City police station.

Police in Wardha have received permission to file a chargesheet under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999, against two accused in a case registered at Wardha City police station. The Additional Director General of Police gave the permission on November 4, 2026.

The case began on August 10, 2026, when Crime No. 1309/2026 was registered at Wardha City police station on a woman's complaint. Sections 76, 333, 115(2), 296, 351(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita were applied. The FIR names three people: Shadabkhan alias Band Muktyarkhan Pathan, 32, a resident of Ward No. 6, Borgaon Meghe, Wardha; Ayush Ajay Nagrale, 21, a resident of Siddharth Nagar, Borgaon Meghe, Wardha; and Sohel alias Aftab alias Monda Akil Khan, 26, a resident of Station Fail, Wardha.

According to police, Shadab alias Band Khan and Sohel alias Monda Khan are accused with past records, with several cases registered against them in police records. For this reason, the Wardha City station house officer prepared a proposal to add MCOCA sections against the two. The proposal was sent through the Superintendent of Police, Wardha, to the Special Inspector General of Police, Nagpur Range.

The Special Inspector General of Police permitted the addition of MCOCA sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4). The sections were then added to the case on August 25, 2026. The investigation was also handed to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Wardha.

Police said the investigating officer arrested the accused and gathered firm evidence. After the investigation was complete, permission was needed before presenting the chargesheet in court. The proposal was sent through the Superintendent of Police, Wardha, to Nikhil Gupta, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Mumbai, Maharashtra State. On November 4, 2026, he ordered that an MCOCA chargesheet be filed against Shadab alias Band Muktyarkhan Pathan and Sohel alias Aftab alias Monda Akil Khan.

According to police, a total of 43 cases are registered against the two. Action under the slum dada law has also been taken against them earlier.

Police also made a point clear to young people. If an accused is committing a first offence but does so together with a criminal with a past record, that person too can fall within the scope of organised crime action under MCOCA. This can ruin the person's entire career. Police have therefore asked young people to remember this before associating with criminals.

The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare. SDPO Sunil Mahadik, station house officer Nageshkumar Chatarkar, and sub-inspectors Sunil Ram and Parvez Khan were involved. Wardha police station personnel Gajanan Lamse, Sanjay Boga, Pawan Nilekar, Arvind Ghuge, Sameer Shaikh and Pravin Mun also took part.
