Volkswagen has released the first teaser of the 2027 Virtus facelift, which is likely to launch soon, showing revised LED lighting, a new bumper and the sporty GT variant.
The sedan continues to draw buyers in India's car market, and Volkswagen's 2027 Virtus facelift is likely to be launched soon. The company has released the first teaser of the car, which shows revised LED lighting, a new bumper and the sporty look of the GT variant.
The Virtus was launched in India in 2022. This is the first time its design is being substantially changed. The new Virtus has also been listed on the company's Indian website.
On the exterior, the 2027 Virtus gets a new angular front bumper, with a wide air intake and a geometric mesh design in its lower section. The headlamps carry new LED daytime running lights. The old fog lamp recesses give way to horizontal inserts. The front grille has the Volkswagen logo and a red GT badge.
At the rear, the car gets new split LED tail-lamps, whose horizontal lighting elements run across to the boot lid. There is also a small lip spoiler, the Volkswagen logo and a GT badge. The new bumper also shows dark inserts and parking sensors.
On the engine and gearbox, the current Virtus has a 1.0-litre TSI engine producing 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre TSI engine producing 150 PS and 250 Nm. Both engines are likely to continue in the facelift.
The gearbox may change. The 1.0-litre TSI engine currently comes with a 6-speed automatic, which could be replaced by a new 8-speed torque converter gearbox. The 7-speed DSG gearbox is likely to continue with the 1.5-litre TSI engine.
In the cabin, the current Virtus offers a 10.1-inch touchscreen, an 8-inch digital instrument display, ventilated front seats and wireless smartphone connectivity. The facelift is likely to get a 10.25-inch digital display and a 360-degree camera.
In the market, the new Virtus will compete with the Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and Honda City. The company has not yet announced the launch date or price.
