Competition in the electric scooter market keeps getting tougher. VLF has launched its new electric scooter, the VLF Strada, in the Indian market. It is meant to take on well-known scooters such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 and Ather Rizta.

The company has opened pre-bookings for the Strada. Customers can book it by paying a token amount of just Rs 999. Deliveries will begin in November. Motohaus distributes the brand in India.

The Strada will be available in two variants, City and Max. Both share the same platform, motor and features. The real difference lies in battery configuration and range.

The City variant has a single removable LFP battery of 2.16 kWh. It gives an IDC range of 130 km on a single charge. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 1,19,999.

The top-end Max variant has two removable LFP batteries with a combined capacity of 4.32 kWh. This allows the scooter to run up to 250 km on a single charge. The Max trim starts at Rs 1,55,500 ex-showroom.

Both variants have a peak power of 4.8 kW and a top speed of 85 km/h. The battery can be charged either while fitted in the scooter or after being taken out. The City variant takes about 3 hours to charge fully, while the Max takes about 6 hours. A 10A charger comes with the scooter.

There are three riding modes. In ERO mode the speed goes up to 45 km/h, in City mode up to 65 km/h and in Sports mode up to 85 km/h. A reverse feature is also provided for convenience and safety.

The scooter has a 5-inch TFT display. For lighting, it gets a full LED setup with a dual-beam projector headlight.

On suspension and braking, it has 16-14 inch alloy wheels, a telescopic fork and dual spring suspension. There are disc brakes on both wheels, and a combi-braking system (CBS) is supported for safety.

It also has USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports, and a standard rear carrier rack for carrying useful items.
