A video showing a man who appears drunk beating a fellow passenger on platform 2 of Vasai Road station at about 2 am has sparked concern over night-time safety for rail travellers.

A video of a violent assault on platform number 2 of Vasai Road railway station at night is circulating widely on social media. Its emergence has raised serious questions about the safety of passengers who travel at night.

The viral video shows a man who appears to be drunk badly beating another passenger on the platform. The incident is said to have taken place around midnight, at about 2 am.

A social media post dated November 1, 2026 also mentions the incident. The post said a shocking incident of violence had come to light on platform 2 of Vasai Road station. According to the post, the viral video shows a man, allegedly drunk, brutally beating a fellow passenger late at night. The post asked how safe passengers are at railway stations after dark, and demanded that the authorities concerned investigate the matter and take strict action against those responsible.

Most significantly, no policeman or Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawan was present on the platform for security while the assault was going on. The incident took place at about 2 am, when passenger movement at the station is low. In such conditions it is difficult for anyone to get help immediately.

There is considerable anger over the incident. People say the system is proving unable to control those who wander drunk in station premises and to stop the trouble they cause passengers.

Such violent incidents have happened repeatedly. This has put a question mark over night patrolling and security arrangements at railway stations and platforms. The incident seen in the viral video reflects the state of passenger safety at stations at night.

A passengers' association has demanded that the administration investigate the matter and take strict action against the guilty.
