Where and how the safe is placed in the house also matters greatly in Vastu. The south or south-west direction is considered best for a safe. It should be placed in the south so that it opens facing north. Placing the safe correctly according to the layout of the house is considered auspicious.

Keeping broken items at home should also be avoided. Broken clocks, damaged electronic items, broken idols or unused things should not be stored in the house. According to Vastu, such items are believed to reduce the positive energy of the home. Useless items should therefore be cleared out of the house from time to time.
